Stay at Home Mini Sessions - West Chester, PA

Wow - what a crazy few months it has been. I really never imagined we would have a global pandemic in our lifetime, but here we are! As of Friday June 5th, PA moved to the yellow phase of opening and many non-essential business were allowed to reopen. Photographers are now allowed to begin socially distant sessions and I’m so excited to get back to capturing your family and memories! I decided to offer a special session type for a limited time as we all try to figure out our new normal - Stay at Home Mini Sessions! I’ve truly enjoyed documenting my family over the past few months and capturing memories for my kids during this time of isolation.

So, what exactly does a socially distant, Stay at Home Mini Session mean? Photographers are expected to follow CDC guidelines during this phase of PA opening. Safety is my top priority for you family, so these sessions will be done outside, at your home. I will use lenses that allow me to stay 6-10 feet from your family and I will wear a mask the entire time. This is a documentary session where we will capture all of the outdoor fun you and your families have had over the past few months! Without after school activities and sports practices, we’ve all found new fun things to do and keep busy and I will capture that for you! Families can have a catch, do chalk, water play, swing, bike, bubbles, s’mores - the options are endless! I’ll also capture a lifestyle family picture or two for you to remember this time at home together. I know many may not be ready to venture out for an on-location session this summer, so this is a perfect option!

I was not able to do my traditional spring Cherry Blossom Minis while we were required to be closed, but I know so many look forward to those sessions. So, I wanted to offer another option and embrace this phase of our life! 2020 may not have been anything like we expected, but it truly has been a time to step back, connect with our families, learn, and grow.

I am so far behind on this little blog, but I've been busy over on Facebook and Instagram!  Head on over there to see some of my recent work (there is a link in my footer on each page).  I promise to be back in a few months to catch up over here too ;)

Baby Sam | Bala Cynwyd, PA Newborn Photographer

This was my second time working with this family and I was so excited to meet Sam.  Sam loved to be curled up next to his mama.  I love photographing those moments where they prefer that to anything else... because I really miss them with my own little ones.  I loved how much his big siblings loved him.  They kept sneaking little glances and touching his tiny hands off and on throughout the session.  Siblings always add an element of real life to the newborn session, and I think that's perfect.  There is nothing better than when a little real life sneaks into a family shot <3 They are my favorites to look back on. As much as I love getting a nice family posed shot, there is something extra sweet about having one like this to smile at as the years go on.

And then they were four | Wynnewood, PA Newborn Photographer

I loved working with this sweet family of four.  Their sweet little girl was nearly two months old and seemed so strong and curious :)  I loved capturing all of her little expressions and the love her big brother had for her.  It was a beautiful February day, so we were even able to sneak outside at the end for a bit :)

Baby James | Philadelphia, PA Newborn Photographer

When Katie inquired about a newborn session, she mentioned that it was, "just us and our newborn and our small dog who we hope can make it into a few pics." Big sister Hershey wiggled her way into most of the photos and it was pretty adorable.  I loved working with this family and hearing about all of the details that went in to making the nursery such a special place.  When you first have a baby, your are so overwhelmed with your love for them and I just love to capture it so you can hold on to that feeling forever <3

Izzy 6 Months | Philadelphia, PA Baby Photographer

Izzy recently turned six months and I was excited to see her again and do a milestone mini session to capture this time.  Six months can bring a lot of changes!  They had moved into a new home and she was a strong sitter with the most beautiful, curious eyes.  We had fun playing with some of her favorite toys!

Desmond One Month | Havertown, PA Newborn Photographer

I met Desmond when he was around one month old and he reminded me so much of his big sister at that age.  He even wore one of the same outfits that she wore for her newborn session a few years ago.  It's amazing how much change change in a few years!  I really love arriving to a session and capturing those last few minutes of getting ready before we start.  It gives kids a little time to adjust to having me in their home and we really capture some nice "real life" moments :)

Stella 3-Months | Kennett Square, PA Lifestyle Photographer

I met little Stella on a sunny February morning and she couldn't have been more sweet.  She just adored her mommy and daddy and we had a relaxed session capturing life at three months old!  She loved flying in the air, looking in the mirror, and playing on her play mat.  We also made sure to capture her colorful and fun nursery!

Rosa | Phoenixville, PA Newborn Photographer

It's rare that I meet siblings who are as infatuated with the newest addition as the parents are.  These sweet kids just adored their new little sister and were so genuinely sweet with her it just warmed your heart.  I truly enjoyed spending my Sunday morning with this family of five and capturing the things that meant so much to them <3

Samantha | Phoenixville, PA Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

I was introduced to this family through a friend of mine and I'm so happy I was connected with them!  I love doing newborn sessions with siblings.  I think they add so much to the session and really help make the sessions your own.  They keep things real :)  This family of four was so fun to work with and we had a great time playing too ;)

Eden | Conshohocken, PA Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

Anyone who has spent more than one hour with a newborn knows, it's not peaceful and sleepy all the time; they sure do have their moments.  My style walks the line between lifestyle and documentary. As much as I love to capture beautiful shots of a newborn sleeping in their crib and cuddly, family shots on a bed... I love the truly, real-life moments - like the ones of you walking up and down endless flights of steps because that is what comforts your baby. That is the kind of love that years from now, you and your baby will want to look back at.  This family of three recently built their dream home and it was especially meaningful for them to have the session at home as opposed to a studio.  For most of the session, we worked in one room that was bright and airy and another room that had deep shadows.  I love how their gallery had images with a combination of light… it really helped captured all the various emotions that go with having a newborn at home.  It also helped to create some beautiful, high contrast black and white images.  I usually shoot for black and white intentionally and I knew the deep shadows would create some beautiful conversions.  This sweet family was amazing to work with and their daughter was as beautiful as the come <3

Celebrating 3 Months | Belmont Hills, PA Family Photographer

I loved spending a cozy morning with the M family while they celebrated their daughter's 3 month milestone!  We did a family lifestyle session with a newborn session feel and I loved how we were able to capture how special it is to have a little one at home with you.  So many details from the nursery nook were handmade and such love went into each and every one of them <3

The M Family | One Year Session at Longwood Gardens, PA

This was my first session of 2017 and if this session indicates what is in store for me this year, I am so excited!!  We spent the morning at Longwood Gardens, and it was one of my most favorite sessions yet.  It was the perfect combination of lifestyle and documentary and I just loved meeting this family.  Little kids don't like to sit still for long and this location is perfect for that.  There is lots to explore and see and we don't have to "sit still" for more than a few seconds here and there.  I love exploring the children's garden with my clients... and my own two little ones! <3

Baby J | Wallingford, PA Lifestyle Newborn Session

I worked with two super tiny babies in a row.  Meet baby J!  He is one strong little guy :)  He was about two months old at this session, but the session was done right around his due date.  He had such a loving big sister and it was fun to capture some photos of them together.  I have a soft spot for sibling photos and I always try to get a couple posed ones as well as a bunch of more candid type shots <3  This was my last session of 2016 and I can't wait to start sharing more of my current sessions!

Meeting Rose | Chester County Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

I was so honored to meet sweet little Rose in her home so soon after she was delivered.  Rose was the tiniest little girl because she surprised everyone a bit early!  I've known Rose's parents for what seems like forever, and they make just as amazing parents as they do friends.  Rose's nursery was designed with such love and thought.  Every item in there had sentimental value and I enjoyed capturing those details as much as I did the newborn details.  Thank you for sharing your early days with Rosebud with me!  <3

The S Family | Tree Farm Storytelling Session West Chester, PA

As much as I love doing tree farm mini sessions, it doesn't come close to as much fun I have at a storytelling session :)  During this family lifestyle session with the S family, I documented them cutting down their Christmas tree!  We started the moment they hopped out of their car and ended with them packing the tree to go home.  We captured some lifestyle portraits along the way too.  This year, I will be offering two packages for Documentary Sessions: a half day "storytelling" session and a full "day in the life" session.  If you are interested in finding out more about these packages, feel free to send me an email or submit a question on my contact form :)

The M Family | Extended Family Photography Session Phoenixville, PA

This was the second time I had the opportunity to work with the M family and both times we did extended family pictures.  It's so fun to include grandparents in the session and I love that we can still have a more casual lifestyle session.  This year, we decided to walk around Phoenixville and we ended up at Steel City to warm up at the end.  If you haven't ever stopped by there - it's worth checking out!  We had a great time being goofy while still giving lots of hugs <3 Thank you for choosing me to capture these memories, M family!

The H Family | In-home Lifestyle Session West Chester, PA

I spent a frigid November afternoon with the H family next to their cozy fire.  I love in-home sessions so much. They work so well for all ages... not just newborns.  When we initially were email about the session, Erin said that she wanted to have a session that captures a day in their regular life - no fancy clothes, no fancy posing.  It was wonderful and we captured so many great moments.

Tree Farm Sessions Day 2 | West Chester, PA Family Photographer

We had our second day of Tree Farm Minis mid November and we had amazing weather.  It was so warm we were actually glowing ;)  I love doing these tree farm sessions and look forward to doing them every year!

Tyler Newborn | Wilmington, DE Newborn Photographer

I was so excited to meet little Tyler and visit with his family.  I love doing newborn sessions at home because they are so relaxing and the older siblings have the freedom to come and go as they please.  In between photos, we read books, played with ponies, and gave Tyler lots of snuggles.  It was a great morning :)
