Baby Sam | Bala Cynwyd, PA Newborn Photographer

This was my second time working with this family and I was so excited to meet Sam.  Sam loved to be curled up next to his mama.  I love photographing those moments where they prefer that to anything else... because I really miss them with my own little ones.  I loved how much his big siblings loved him.  They kept sneaking little glances and touching his tiny hands off and on throughout the session.  Siblings always add an element of real life to the newborn session, and I think that's perfect.  There is nothing better than when a little real life sneaks into a family shot <3 They are my favorites to look back on. As much as I love getting a nice family posed shot, there is something extra sweet about having one like this to smile at as the years go on.

And then they were four | Wynnewood, PA Newborn Photographer

I loved working with this sweet family of four.  Their sweet little girl was nearly two months old and seemed so strong and curious :)  I loved capturing all of her little expressions and the love her big brother had for her.  It was a beautiful February day, so we were even able to sneak outside at the end for a bit :)

Baby James | Philadelphia, PA Newborn Photographer

When Katie inquired about a newborn session, she mentioned that it was, "just us and our newborn and our small dog who we hope can make it into a few pics." Big sister Hershey wiggled her way into most of the photos and it was pretty adorable.  I loved working with this family and hearing about all of the details that went in to making the nursery such a special place.  When you first have a baby, your are so overwhelmed with your love for them and I just love to capture it so you can hold on to that feeling forever <3

Rosa | Phoenixville, PA Newborn Photographer

It's rare that I meet siblings who are as infatuated with the newest addition as the parents are.  These sweet kids just adored their new little sister and were so genuinely sweet with her it just warmed your heart.  I truly enjoyed spending my Sunday morning with this family of five and capturing the things that meant so much to them <3

Samantha | Phoenixville, PA Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

I was introduced to this family through a friend of mine and I'm so happy I was connected with them!  I love doing newborn sessions with siblings.  I think they add so much to the session and really help make the sessions your own.  They keep things real :)  This family of four was so fun to work with and we had a great time playing too ;)

Eden | Conshohocken, PA Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

Anyone who has spent more than one hour with a newborn knows, it's not peaceful and sleepy all the time; they sure do have their moments.  My style walks the line between lifestyle and documentary. As much as I love to capture beautiful shots of a newborn sleeping in their crib and cuddly, family shots on a bed... I love the truly, real-life moments - like the ones of you walking up and down endless flights of steps because that is what comforts your baby. That is the kind of love that years from now, you and your baby will want to look back at.  This family of three recently built their dream home and it was especially meaningful for them to have the session at home as opposed to a studio.  For most of the session, we worked in one room that was bright and airy and another room that had deep shadows.  I love how their gallery had images with a combination of light… it really helped captured all the various emotions that go with having a newborn at home.  It also helped to create some beautiful, high contrast black and white images.  I usually shoot for black and white intentionally and I knew the deep shadows would create some beautiful conversions.  This sweet family was amazing to work with and their daughter was as beautiful as the come <3

Baby J | Wallingford, PA Lifestyle Newborn Session

I worked with two super tiny babies in a row.  Meet baby J!  He is one strong little guy :)  He was about two months old at this session, but the session was done right around his due date.  He had such a loving big sister and it was fun to capture some photos of them together.  I have a soft spot for sibling photos and I always try to get a couple posed ones as well as a bunch of more candid type shots <3  This was my last session of 2016 and I can't wait to start sharing more of my current sessions!

Meeting Rose | Chester County Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

I was so honored to meet sweet little Rose in her home so soon after she was delivered.  Rose was the tiniest little girl because she surprised everyone a bit early!  I've known Rose's parents for what seems like forever, and they make just as amazing parents as they do friends.  Rose's nursery was designed with such love and thought.  Every item in there had sentimental value and I enjoyed capturing those details as much as I did the newborn details.  Thank you for sharing your early days with Rosebud with me!  <3

Tyler Newborn | Wilmington, DE Newborn Photographer

I was so excited to meet little Tyler and visit with his family.  I love doing newborn sessions at home because they are so relaxing and the older siblings have the freedom to come and go as they please.  In between photos, we read books, played with ponies, and gave Tyler lots of snuggles.  It was a great morning :)

Baby P | Downingtown, PA Lifestyle Newborn Session

This past October, I was so excited to be able to photograph my cousin and his family as they welcomed baby P home :)  Baby P has two fun older brothers and they take such good care of him.  We bounced between bedrooms and had a very casual documentary style shoot with some "posed" lifestyle shots in between.  My posing is always child-led.  I will position a family or sibling shot how the kids are most comfortable and try for a picture with everyone looking, but after that, I let the kids decide what's next.  Sometimes they like to read a book, sing a song, kiss the toes, or jump on the bed!  My favorite pictures are always the ones that happen spontaneously and naturally... and kids make this part of my job easy <3

Juliet Lifestyle Newborn | Devon, PA

I worked with Juliet's beautiful mama years ago and I was so honored when she reached out to me about newborn pictures.  We had a great time catching up during the session and it was amazing to see how much big sister has grown since I last saw her!  She was so sweet with her new sister and loved snuggling her <3

Lifestyle Newborn Session | West Chester, PA

I went to high school with Esther and we have keep in touch over social media for the last several years.  I was so excited to hear she was expecting her second baby and coming home to deliver him :)  After, I'm sure, what seemed like a whirlwind, he arrived safe and sound and we set up a newborn session over Labor Day weekend.  It was so good to see Esther again and meet her beautiful family.  I loved using the spaces they had in the home they were renting to create some of my very favorite black and white images <3

Mommy & Me Lifestyle Newborn Session | Philadelphia, PA

At the end of last summer, I did a Mommy & Me Newborn session with a beautiful mama and her two boys.  Big brother was super sweet with the new little guy and he loved relaxing with his mom and helping to take care of the baby.  Their family was in the midst of a move, so while I enjoyed capturing a bunch of "clean" images, I had to take one with the HUGE stack of moving boxes mom had been working on packing all week!  Supermom for sure!!!  She's also a talented local photographer so we had fun talking shop as well ;)

Philadelphia Lifestyle Newborn Session | Lifestyle Newborn Philadelphia, PA

This is one of those sessions that I love more and more each time I come back to it <3  I met this family of three on a warm August day and sweet Izzy could not have asked for more loving parents.  They just adored her... and so did I :)  She was so quiet and easy going... and so, SO tiny.  I love the classic look of these images and how, even many months later, I feel like this was yesterday when looking back at the images <3

Extended Family Newborn Session | Wynnewood PA Photographer

I recently did an Extended Family Newborn session at a local home on the Main Line.  This is the second time I've done a session like this and it's really so special for the family.  We spent two thirds of the session doing my Newborn Lifestyle Session and then we worked on capturing some extended family photos with the grandparents :)  We did some indoors and then moved outside to play.   If you are interested in including extended family at your newborn session, let me know!

Celia Newborn | Havertown, PA Newborn Photographer

Celia's family recently moved into this home, but you would never know it.  They had already put their personal touch on almost every room.  Big brother was so proud of his room and he enjoyed showing me around and some of his favorite toys while his sister took a little break.  Celia was such a happy baby and was pretty content during most of our session as long as she was being snuggled or fed.  My sessions are very laid back so you are free to stop and feed, have a snack, or take a break at any time.  I make sure we have enough time for it all so we are never rushed.  Take a look at sweet Celia and her wonderful family :)

Joseph Newborn | Havertown, PA Newborn Photographer

There is something just so sweet about a newborn session with first time parents.  There are so many peaceful moments where the parents are in just total awe of their new baby.  It always brings me back to my memories of the first week home with my oldest daughter.  There is something so special (and terrifying!) about that first two weeks.  And while I do miss the chaos and fun that an older sibling brings to the mix (really, I do love toddler chaos!), I love being able to relax a bit more and shoot much more deliberately.  Take a peek at Joseph's session on the blog today.  I really miss those lazy newborn days!

Finn Newborn | Bryn Mawr, PA Newborn Photographer

It was a super cloudy day when I met Finn and his family back in May.  We spent most of the time in a bright downstairs bedroom, but we found a few pockets of light in other areas of the home too :)  Finn was alert during most of our session but was so calm and easy going.  I absolutely love these black and white conversions and the emotion they portray.  It was a great day for a relaxed, lifestyle newborn session!

Catherine Newborn | Schwenksville, PA Newborn Photographer

One of the things that surprised me most about running a business is reconnecting with people from my past.  It may be one of my favorite parts of this photography journey.  Maura and I went to the same college and had several common friends.  During her daughter's newborn session it was fun to reminisce about college life and our old stomping ground.  We had a relaxed morning and even got a few pictures with their first babies ;)  I was so surprised when I walked into their home to find that our daughters have similar colored nurseries and the same curtains!  We also had the same master bedroom furniture :)  Great minds think alike!  Enjoy these pictures of this super sweet and smiley little girl.

Henryk | King of Prussia, PA Lifestyle Newborn Session

It has been awhile since I've blogged but I've been excited to share this session since April!  This session turned out to be one of my most favorite newborn sessions to date.  I always talk/email with my clients a good bit before the session to determine what their goals are for the session.  For this one, mom wanted to focus on alone shots of Henryk, very natural sibling interactions, and babywearing.  We did the entire session on one bed, in one room.  He nursed, we changed diapers, we played UNO, we talked about birth and babywearing.  I adored the simplicity and how that allowed the focus of the images to be the newness of Henryk and the raw emotions of bringing a new baby into the family.  I absolutely loved working with this family and it was fun to pull up these images again... it's really hard to believe how small he was :)
